Altair Nanotechnologies (ALTI) Update

Altair Nanotechnologies (ALTI) appears to be making progress.

On May 8th, Altairnano had a press release titled: "Proterra 'Bus of Tomorrow' Showcased in Altairnano Demonstration". The press release reminded readers that a couple years earlier U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, called Proterra the "bus of tomorrow." Proterra is powered by Altairnano's batteries. "Altairnano's solution is the best we have found in the industry for fast charging of buses," said Proterra founder Dale Hill.

On May 10th, a Friday, ALTI closed at $2.12 (52-week low was $2.02).

On May 15th, prior to the market opening, Altairnano released 1Q'13 results. I liked what I read in both the company's 1Q'13 press release and the conference call transcript. From the 1Q'13 press release: "With respect to the critical issue of revenue, we recognized $1.9 million in revenue this quarter, and now have $7.1 million in deferred revenue. Lastly, when we add in the revenue that we expect to earn from our current customer base, which includes the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute, Proterra and the City of Wu'an, it quickly becomes clear why 2013 will be a pivotal year for Altair."

On May 15th and May 16th, ALTI closed at $2.35 and $2.47, respectively. 52-week range: $2.02 - $5.04. During these two trading days ALTI volume as 37,600 vs. t3m-avg. of 17,490.

[update::02013.05.17] To me LOL means Lumps Of Labor, but in this context it means LOL. ALTI opened down 8% today at $2.27. At 7:00am MST it's at $2.22, down 10+%.
