Geeknet (GKNT) Stinks Like a Pig Pen

Geeknet (GKNT) hit a new 52-week low yesterday (02014.11.18) of $8.77 before closing at $8.78. GKNT is an important stock for the GDT::Portfolio, yet it has been a terrible investment. I am at a loss as to why the company doesn't do stuff to promote itself and its stock. At some point and time I might be tempted to add to the GKNT holdings, but why toss more $$$ into the toilet? P.S. If I sound annoyed, that's because I am.

Sold Some American Airlines (AAL) at 14 $Pi ($43.98)

American Airlines (AAL) is near a new 52-week high and that meant I sold some AAL at 14 $Pi ($43.98). AAL has been a great investment for the GDT::Portfolio.

Spire (SPIR) -- Is It Going Belly-Up?

Spire (SPIR) is an important stock for the GDT::Portfolio. SPIR has recently bounced off of it's 52-week low and I think it's because of a couple of recent press releases. The first had to do with the company raising some cash.
Over the term of the transactions described herein, Spire expects to achieve an approximate $5 million cash benefit, all of which, if achieved, can be used to support ongoing operations and grow the business.
There are approximately 9.21 million SPIR shares, $5 million is roughly $0.54 per SPIR share. SPIR closed yesterday (02014.11.05) at $0.41.

On 02014.10.31, Spire had a press release titled Spire Receives Prestigious Solar Power World Award for Leadership in Solar. In that press release Spire stated the following:

Based upon our recent activities, revenues recognized to date and expected shipments, for the remainder of 2014 we anticipate a doubling of our 2013 solar business volume and coupled with the increased level of client inquiries, we certainly feel that the forecasted demand for turnkey lines has now materialized and will extend into 2015.

SPIR closed on 02014.11.05 at $0.41. 52-week range: $0.20 - 1.17. The stock is priced as if Spire is going out of business any day now. At its current price SPIR has a Price-Sales-Ratio of 0.23 and a market value of only $3.73 million.

Sold Some Yahoo! (YHOO) at 15 $Pi ($47.12)

Yahoo! (YHOO) hit a new 52-week high of $47.13 yesterday (02014.11.04) before closing at $47.08. The jump caused us to sell some YHOO at 15 $Pi ($47.12). A few days ago I sold some YHOO at 14 $Pi. I currently have no plans on selling any more YHOO, but plans are made to be broken. YHOO ended yesterday at #10 in the GDT::Portfolio.

Level 3 Communications (LVLT) Gets a 'Buy' Recommendation

Level 3 Communications (LVLT) was "upgraded to 'buy' from 'neutral' at Citigroup today (02014.11.04). LVLT closed yesterday (02014.11.03) at $46.67. 52-week range: $28.58 - $49.22.

LVLT is an Internet-pipe investment for us. Late last month LVLT was added to the S&P 500. LVLT started today at #16 in the GDT::Portfolio. Unless personal finances dictate otherwise, I have no plans on selling any LVLT.

Twitter (TWTR) Gets an 'Equal-Weight' Rating

Twitter (TWTR) is still struggling after reporting 3Q'14 results. Today (02014.02.03) "Morgan Stanley initiated coverage on shares of Twitter Inc. with an Equal-weight rating and $42 price target." A price target of $42 leaves our TWTR investment slightly underwater. My TWTR price target is $87.96.

TWTR closed on Friday, 02014.10.31, at $41.47. 52-week range: $29.51 - $74.73.
